Pacific Armies Management Seminar to take place in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) – The 42nd Pacific ArmiesManagement Seminar (PAMS-42) is scheduled to take place in the capital city ofHanoi on August 19-24.

The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army(VPA) and the US Army Pacific (USARPAC) will co-host the event.

Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chiefof the VPA General Staff and Deputy Defence Minister, will deliver a keynotespeech at the opening.

PAMS-42 will cover threeplenary sessions, focusing on the topics of land forces’ initial responses to humanitarianassistance/disaster response (HADR), multilateral cooperation and enhancing rolesin regional cooperation for HADR.

The co-hosting of the seminar is expected tohelp the VPA enhance its friendship, mutual understanding and trust with othercountries’ armies as well as demonstrate the active and responsible role of theVPA in regional common issues.

On the occasion, the involved parties willexchange measures to promote cooperation between armies in the region to copewith threats posed by natural disasters, contributing to the maintenance ofregional stability.

PAMS is an annual multinational military seminarproviding a forum for senior-level (lieutenant colonel to major general, ornational equivalent) officers from regional ground forces and security forcesto exchange views. 

It is not only a forum to further understandingof subjects studied, but also an opportunity to establish and enhance a set ofstrong interpersonal relationships among the future leaders of regional armiesand security forces.-VNA

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved

A major focus will be preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The NASC will coordinate with the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies and organisations to continue implementing the election plan, organise oversight of the electoral process, and carry out its duties and powers as prescribed.
