Buddhist monks and nuns from Vietnamese pagodas in France andEuropean countries gathered at a ceremony in Khuong Viet pagoda in Paristo commemorate the martyrs who laid down their lives to protect thenational border and islands.
The ceremony, which wasalso attended by a crowd of Vietnamese living in France as well asFrench friends, is a chance for the participants to show their gratitudetowards the fallen martyrs in the homeland.
Throughthe event, the monks also expressed the national Buddhism’s spirit andwish to join hands in consolidating the national solidarity,contributing to the nation’s defence and construction.
Venerable Thich Tinh Quang, head of the Khuong Viet pagoda, said theceremony is also a call on the Vietnamese community to foster theirunity in protecting and developing their homeland.
Meanwhile, Cao Huy Thuan – a retired university professor who presentedat the event - said he is deeply touched. “It reminds us of ourresponsibilities and what we should do for the homeland,” he added.-VNA
