Hanoi (VNA) - Party General Secretary To Lam attended a conference held by the Party Central Committee's Commission for Internal Affairs in Hanoi on December 31 to review the Party's internal work and the performance of steering committees for the prevention and control of corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena in centrally-run cities and provinces.

Lam, who is also head of the Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negative Phenomena, hailed efforts and achievements by the commission and the steering committees in 2024, which have contributed significantly to Party and political system building and rectification as well as political security, social order, safety and socio-economic development.

Noting that 2025 is an important year in the implementation of the 13th National Party Congress, and the year when the 14th congress will be held, he asked the commission, as the strategic advisory body of the Party in the fields of internal affairs, anti-corruption and judicial reform, should work harder to ensure that no officials with corruption, wastefulness or negativity enters the new-tenure Party committees.

He asked for their more efforts to make valuable contributions to the drafting of documents of the 14th National Party Congress, and organisation of a national conference to summarise the prevention and control of corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena in the coming time.

Along with making breakthroughs in anti-corruption in the entire society, they should keep a close eye on areas, localities and officials with high risks of corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomena, he asked.

At the same time, more attention should be paid to gathering feedback and requests from the people, thoroughly responding to their denunciations, he underlined.

The Party chief also asked for prompt implementation of the streamlining of their structure following Resolution 18, ensuring their effective operations, he stressed

Participants at the conference noted that in 2024, the commission and the steering committees showed strong performance in their operations. Theu submitted to the Politburo, Secretariat and the Central Steering Committees 10 major projects on internal affairs, judicial reform, and corruption, wastefulness and negative phenomenon prevention and combat.

They successfully organised two international conferences, conducted scientific research on 13 topics, and compiled a number of books serving internal affairs study.

Particularly, the internal affairs sector held more than 1,000 meetings between leaders of provincial and municipal Party Committees with citizens. It received and addressed nearly 60,000 petitions, complaints, and denunciations, while advising on and directing the resolution of over 200 large-scale, complex cases of collective complaints, thereby contributing to maintaining political stability and social order./.
