– Overseas Vietnamese (OV) intellectuals are a valuable resource for Vietnam, especially in the context that the country is entering a new era of the nation’s rise, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark Luong Thanh Nghi.
Speaking at a December 30 meeting with over 40 Vietnamese experts and scientists living in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and France, Nghi said that the large contingent of Vietnamese intellectuals, experts, and scientists abroad has been educated and trained primarily in developed countries. They have access to advanced sciences, with many working in cutting-edge sectors and modern scientific fields. – Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son on December 31, 2024 signed an official dispatch of the Prime Minister, asking for urgent measures to fix an incident at the Dak Mi 1 Hydropower Project in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum, which left three dead and two missing earlier the same day.

– The total trade of goods through the Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. 2 in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai had exceeded 1.6 million USD as of 2 p.m. on January 1, of which nearly 929,000 USD came from exports.
Exports on the first day of the New Year were mainly agricultural products such as dragon fruit, watermelon, durian, jackfruit, banana, rambutan, mango, and cassava, while imports included flowers, ornamental plants, and fresh vegetables, according to deputy head of the Lao Cai Border Gate Customs Sub-Department Pham Van Phuc. – Around 750,000 people visited tourist attractions, entertainment sites and shopping areas in Ho Chi Minh City during the New Year holiday (December 31 - January 1), according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
Of them, overnight visitors reached around 135,000, with a hotel room occupancy rate of 83%, while foreign tourists hit 41,215. The holiday saw tourism revenue of over 2 trillion VND (78.5 million USD). Read full story
– The Ninh Thuan Open Kitesurfing Tournament 2024 took place at My Hoa beach in Vinh Hai commune, Ninh Hai district in the south-central province of Ninh Thuan from December 30-31.

– The Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang aims to achieve export value of over 1.9 billion USD in 2025 by boosting production and processing of key products such as seafood, high-quality rice, fruits, and garments.
