- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received visiting Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith in Hanoi on December 30.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a working session with the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in Hanoi on December 30 to review their apparatus reorganisation.

The activity was part of a resolution adopted by the 12th Party Central Committee in 2017 and aimed at continued reform and reorganisation of the political system to ensure it is lean, efficient, and effective. Read full story

- The Lao Ministry of National Defence hosted a meeting to mark the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and the 35th anniversary of the All People’s Defence Festival (December 22) in Vientiane on December 30 morning, bringing together senior officers of the Lao People's Army.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam highlighted the formation and development of the VPA over the past 80 years, as well as the fruitful cooperation between the two defence ministries. Read full story

- Hanoi ranked first among 63 provinces and centrally-run cities in the Provincial Innovation Index (PII) 2024, released by the Ministry of Science and Technology on December 30.

- The Ministry of Transport unveiled its plan to break ground on 19 projects and complete 50 others in 2025 during its year-end review and planning conference held in Hanoi on December 30.

A focus will be placed on connecting the eastern section of the North-South expressway through various component projects. In collaboration with local authorities, the ministry aims to finalise several expressway projects, with the goal of putting 3,000km of expressways into operation. Read full story

- The supply of new apartments in 2025 is predicted to reach 40,000 units in the two major markets of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, however it will remain difficult to cool down prices, even with a significant increase in supply, said insiders.

Housing prices will not decrease but no longer rise as rapidly as in the recent past, Duong Thuy Dung, managing director of CBRE Vietnam said, adding that the increase level is expected to range from 5-8% compared to 2024. Read full story

- The Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long has surpassed the 1 billion USD mark in export earnings for the first time, driven by a surge in industrial production this year, according to its Department of Industry and Trade.
