Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh,head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, received RussianMinister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov in Hanoi on March 27, affirmingthat there remains much potential for stronger bilateral economic ties.

Welcoming his guest’s visit, Binh re-affirmedVietnam’s consistent stance of attaching importance to the comprehensivestrategic partnership with Russia and considering Russia a leading partner inits foreign policy.

He said the two countries still have muchpotential to further develop their economic, trade, and investment connectionsand bring them on par with the sound political relationship so that bilateraltrade will reach the target of 10 billion USD by 2020.

The host affirmed that Vietnam will create favourableconditions for Russian firms to do business; take part in key projects in thefields of energy, industry, transport, and agriculture; and expand cooperation inIT and e-government building. He added that Vietnam also welcomes Russiancompanies’ engagement in developing urban transport infrastructure in thecountry.

The official asked both sides to work togethermore closely to facilitate economic, trade, and investment links as well as bigcooperation projects, while capitalising on the free trade agreement betweenVietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Russia is a member.

At the meeting, Minister Manturov said Russiawishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in all fields. It hopes to buildon what the two sides have achieved and expand partnerships in economy, trade,investment, culture, education, and people-to-people ties. –VNA

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
