Personnel work achieves high consensus: NA Chairman

The 8th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) has concluded after a day of serious, democratic, and highly responsible work, having fulfilled the planned agenda, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 8th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) has concluded after a day of serious, democratic, and highly responsible work, having fulfilled the planned agenda, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said.

In his closing remarks in Hanoi on August 26, Man hailed the session's success, noting its strict adherence to Party regulations and State laws, which achieved strong consensus and unity among deputies.

He said the NA relieved Nguyen Hoa Binh of his position as Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court and approved his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 tenure.

Following the President's recommendation, Le Minh Tri was elected Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, replacing Binh.

The legislature also approved the relief of Tran Luu Quang and Le Thanh Long from their respective positions as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, with Quang assigned to head the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission.

Nguyen Huy Tien was elected as the new Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuracy, while the NA passed a resolution increasing the number of Deputy PMs to five. Ho Duc Phoc and Bui Thanh Son were appointed Deputy Prime Ministers for the 2021-2026 tenures, with Phoc and Son concurrently serving as ministers of finance and foreign affairs, respectively.

Additionally, Do Duc Duy and Nguyen Hai Ninh were appointed as Ministers of Natural Resources and Environment and Justice, respectively. The NA also approved the relief of Le Minh Khai and Dang Quoc Khanh from their respective positions as Deputy PM and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, along with the removal of Le Thanh Van as a member of the 15th NA.

Man expressed confidence that under the Party leadership, with the active involvement of the entire political system, departments, and sectors, along with the solidarity and determined efforts of the entire Party, people, army, business community and overseas Vietnamese, the nation will overcome difficulties and challenges. It will achieve the highest possible outcomes in socioeconomic development, national defence-security, foreign affairs, and the fight against corruption and negative phenomena in 2024. These efforts will contribute to realising the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution and prepare for the upcoming Party congresses at all levels in the lead-up to the 14th National Party Congress.

He urged relevant agencies and deputies to actively and promptly prepare the content that will be presented for consideration and approval at the 15th NA’s upcoming 8th session./.
