The fifth photographic exhibition on Vietnam and its people opened in Hanoi on Oct. 14.

The week-long exhibition showcases 105 selected photos from more than 3,400 entries submitted to a contest focusing on the country’s development and its people. The contest is held every five years by the Vietnam Pictorial Magazine and the Vietnamese Association of Photographic Artists.

The event is to mark the 55th year since the Vietnam Pictorial, an arm of the Vietnam News Agency, issued its first publication on Oct. 15, 1954.

The contest’s first prize was awarded to Tran Cao Bao Long from Ho Chi Minh City.

The organising board also presented two second, four third and six other prizes./.
