Ambassador Kunio Umeda said the Japanese side hascoordinated with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make the bestpreparation for the trip, so that the two countries can sign many cooperationagreements and projects that benefit both sides.
He said Japan wishes to invest in energy projects inVietnam such as environmentally friendly coal-fired or liquefied naturalgas-fired electric power plants.
In the field of support industry, Japan is willingto help Vietnam in auto industry with a focus on small-and medium-sizedenterprises, he said, informing that a delegation of the Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry will travel to Vietnam to discuss the issue with severalVietnamese agencies.
Responding to PM Nguyen Xan Phuc’s request forassistance in fighting drought and adapting to climate change, the Ambassadorsaid Japan is studying the possibility of helping Vietnam build irrigationsystems to ensure production during dry seasons. He also suggested that theVietnamese Government continue to improve institutions to raise the efficiencyin using water resources.
PM Phuc affirmed that Vietnam always attachesimportance to enhancing the strategic partnership with Japan.
During the visit, the PM is scheduled to hold talkswith his counterpart Shinzo Abe and meet with leaders of Japan’s National Dietand political parties.
He will also attend and deliver speeches at the AsiaFuture Conference and an investment promotion conference, during which theleader will send a message on the new investment environment in Vietnam as wellas the role played by the Vietnamese Government.-VNA
