PM meets world leaders on sidelines of 10th ASEM

Meeting withSwiss President Didier Burkhalter, the PM assured him that Vietnam willcontinue to offer support to foreign investors and invite more Swissinvestment in finance, technology, and the chemical and pharmaceuticalsectors.

Both sides reached a consensus on a number of issues,including fostering economic and trade cooperation; accelerating thesigning of a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European FreeTrade Association (EFTA), of which Switzerland is a member; and workingtogether closely at multilateral forums, including the United Nationsand ASEM.

Burkhalter said he looks forward to visiting Vietnam soon to open a Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
In a meeting with Luxemburg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, theVietnamese leader expressed his appreciation for the bilateral economicties between Vietnam and Luxemburg.

Bettel, on his part, madeit clear that Luxemburg values its cooperation with Vietnam, and pledgedthe country’s support to speed up the ratification of the Partnershipand Cooperation Agreement and the conclusion of the free trade agreementwith the EU.

Both countries committed to enhancingcollaboration on services, transport, financing, tourism and greengrowth, amongst others.

During their dialogue, the VietnamesePM and his Polish counterpart Ewa Kopacz pledged to nurturecomprehensive collaboration, with a focus on economics, finance andagriculture.

A day earlier, Nguyen Tan Dung also talked withhis Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban, and both sides agreed to step upbilateral economic, trade and education ties.

Orban expressed his wish to visit Vietnam in the near future.-VNA

Belgian King Philippe's visit, accompanied by senior officials, business leaders, representatives of universities and research institutes, would create new momentum to deepen and enhance the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belgium in a practical and effective way, meeting the benefits of their people and contributing responsibly to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and the world.

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

Vietnam wants to strengthen multi-faceted cooperation with Belgium: State President

President Cuong warmly welcomed King Philippe and a high-ranking delegation of the Kingdom of Belgium on their first state visit to Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973, affirming that the trip is an important historical milestone, opening up a new page for the friendly relations between the two countries.
