PM okays irrigation project in Mekong Delta

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved a project to build the first phase of Cai Lon – Cai Be irrigation system in the Mekong Delta provinces of Kien Giang and Ca Mau from 2017-2021.

Hanoi(VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved a project to build thefirst phase of Cai Lon – Cai Be irrigation system in the Mekong Delta provincesof Kien Giang and Ca Mau from 2017-2021.

The project will be managedby the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with investment of morethan 3.3 trillion VND (over 145 million USD).

It aims to controlsalinity in the two provinces and help develop local aquaculture.

The project willstart this year with capital preparation, designing and land clearance. - VNA
