Politburo reprimands Health Ministry's Party Affairs Committee, expels officials from Party

The Politburo decided to reprimand the Ministry of Health’s Party Affairs Committee for the 2025-2026 term (by February 2025), and expel several officials from Thanh Hoa province, Ho Chi Minh City and former Kien Giang province from the Party for their serious violations of Party regulations and State laws.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Politburo on August 22 announced a reprimand against the Ministry of Health’s Party Affairs Committee for the 2025-2026 term (by February 2025), and the expulsion of several officials from Thanh Hoa province, Ho Chi Minh City and former Kien Giang province from the Party, citing serious violations of Party regulations and State laws.

After considering a proposal from the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission, the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat concluded that the ministry’s Party Affairs Committee, active by February 2025, had shown the lack of responsibility in leadership and oversight, allowing the ministry and its certain Party organisations and members to commit violations in drafting and finalising laws, performing state management functions over food safety. Many officials and Party members at the Vietnam Food Administration were found to have shown degradation in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle; violated Party regulations and State laws on carrying out their duties; and engaged in serious corruption and misconduct over a long period of time.

Nguyen Duc Quyen, during his tenure as member of the Thanh Hoa provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, violated Party regulations and State laws by signing decisions on land allocation and lease, which involved illegal land use fee collection.

Le Duc Giang, while serving as member of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, violated Party regulations and State laws in performing assigned duties and responsibilities, and abused his positions and power while on duty.

Le Hong Son, during his time as Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training, unlawfully intervened in investment decisions concerning the procurement of foreign-language teaching and learning equipment by district- and ward-level People’s Committees.

Ngo Cong Tuoc, while acting as member of the Kien Giang provincial Party Committee, Vice Secretary of the U Minh Thuong district Party Committee and Chairman of the district People's Committee, signed documents related to the district administrative centre construction project in violation of the law.

The above officials showed degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle; violated Party regulations and State laws on performing their duties. Their actions, including breaches of regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and failures to uphold the responsibility for setting an example, caused severe consequences, sparked public concerns, and seriously harmed the reputation of Party organisations, agencies, and units they served.

Therefore, the Politburo decided to expel them from the Party./.
