Hanoi (VNA) – President Truong Tan Sang has expressed his belief that cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and Cambodian Senate will grow further.

Meeting Senate President Say Chhum in Hanoi on December 16, the State leader congratulated Cambodia on its economic achievements and enhanced position on the international arena.

He asked Cambodia to continue providing support for Vietnamese nationals living in the country so that they can contribute to Cambodia’s national construction and the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Senate President Say Chhhum informed the host of the outcomes of his talks with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, saying that both sides discussed each country’s socio-economic developments and shared experience in personnel and office work.

The two legislatures have agreed to continue further strengthening collaboration for the benefit of the two peoples, he said.

He affirmed the Cambodian Senate’s support of efforts to promote comprehensive links between the two nations, including working closely with Vietnam on border demarcation and building a borderline of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation and development.

The traditional friendship and mutual support between the two countries are built with the sacrifice of many voluntary Vietnamese soldiers and experts, the Cambodian Senate leader said, adding that the Cambodian people will forever bear in mind the great help of Vietnam during the most difficult time of Cambodia.

He expressed joy at the strengthened ties between the two countries, noting that last year, Vietnam became the sixth largest investor in Cambodia and the top source of tourists to the country.
