Tokyo (VNA) – Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang hosted areception in Tokyo on June 1 for Keiji Furuya, Chairman of the Committee onRules and Administration of the Japanese House of Representatives, as part ofhis state visit to the East Asian country.

President Quang showed his delight at the strong, comprehensive andpractical development of the Vietnam-Japan relationship over the past 45 years.

He affirmed that Vietnam treasures the extensive strategic partnershipwith Japan and considers Japan a leading and long-term trade partner.

Vietnam wants to work with Japan to bringing bilateral relations to anew development period, benefiting people of both nations, the Presidentstressed.

President Quang proposed Furuya continue promoting exchanges andmeetings among sectors and parliamentarian agencies of the two countries, whileincreasing exchanges between parliamentarians, especially young legislators.Both sides should also coordinate with and support each other at regional andinternational forums, he added.

For his part, Furuya stressed that Japan’s House of Representatives alwaystreasures cooperation with Vietnam and hopes to foster the extensive strategicpartnership between the two countries in all fields, especially between theHouse of Representatives and the National Assembly of Vietnam.

He also agreed on the need to soon organise a visit to Vietnam for Japaneseparliamentarians.-VNA
