Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung welcomed General Prawit Wongsuwon, Thai Deputy PM and Defence Minister, in Hanoi on January 14.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung welcomed General Prawit Wongsuwon, ThaiDeputy PM and Defence Minister, in Hanoi on January 14, during which heiterated Vietnam’s wish for a stable and growing future for Thailand.

The PM expressed his delight at the developmentof the two countries’ friendly relationship and strategic partnership,saying that the guest’s visit to Vietnam on this occasion will help tofurther deepen the bilateral ties.

Vietnam wantsto work with Thailand to implement collaborative programmes towardstheir strategic partnership and their common development, for peace,stability, cooperation, and development in the ASEAN region and aroundthe world, he added.

Speaking highly of theoutcomes of talks between Prawit Wongsuwon and Vietnamese DefenceMinister Phung Quang Thanh, the PM suggested both sides initiate signedagreements and continue coordinating in conducting joint sea patrols andaddressing other fishing-related issues.

TheVietnamese Government leader also called for increased efforts to stepup cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and transport.

He affirmed that the Government welcomes and creates favourableconditions for Thai investors to conduct long-term business in Vietnam,and encouraged accelerating negotiations on a memorandum ofunderstanding of labour cooperation.

Concurringwith the host’s proposals, Prawit Wongsuwon shared that during hisvisit, both sides discussed numerous measures to boost bilateral ties,especially in national defence.

He agreed to tighten cooperation in various fields and at regional and international forums.-VNA
