Quang Ninh (VNA) – The northern province of Quang Ninh plans to start work on two bridges spanning Cua Luc Bay later this month to help foster the development of Ha Long city.

Cua Luc 1 will have a total length of 4.2km with the main bridge 290m long, while Cua Luc 3 will be over 2.8km long, including 160m of the main bridge.

The six-lane bridges will allow maximum speeds of 60km per hour and are set for completion in 2022.

Both have total investment of more than 3.85 trillion VND (164.8 million USD) funded by the local budget, according to the Quang Ninh management board of civil and industrial construction projects.

Since Hoanh Bo district was merged into Ha Long city in January this year, the city has adopted a multi-polar development strategy with Cua Luc Bay at its centre.

To create conditions for development acceleration, Quang Ninh decided to build three bridges over Cua Luc Bay, firstly Cua Luc 1 and 3.

The two bridges are expected to help expand the urban space to attract more investment in industrial parks and urban development projects in Ha Long, create momentum for socio-economic development, and ease traffic on Bai Chay Bridge and National Highway 18 in the city. They will also help form a chain of forest and sea tourism to tap into local potential./.
