A requiem was held in Vientiane on August 6 for Vietnamese and Lao revolutionary martyrs, who sacrificed their life for national independence and the special relations between the two countries.

Buddhist monks, nuns and followers prayed for martyrs’ souls and for the country’s peace and people’s prosperity.

Theceremony was to call on younger generations of Laos and Vietnam to takeresponsibility to maintain the friendship and cooperation between thetwo countries.

On the occasion, the Bank for Investment andDevelopment of Vietnam (BIDV)’s branch in Laos presented 216 million VND(10,152 USD) to the Lao Buddhist Association’s social welfareactivities, bringing the bank’s assistance to the field to 182 billionVND (8.55 million USD).-VNA
