Second meeting of sub-committee on 14th Party Congress personnel opens

The sub-committee in charge of the personnel work for the 14th National Party Congress convened its second meeting in Hanoi on August 21 under the chair of General Secretary and State President To Lam, head of the subcommittee.

Hanoi (VNA) – The sub-committee in charge of the personnel work for the 14th National Party Congress convened its second meeting in Hanoi on August 21 under the chair of General Secretary and State President To Lam, head of the subcommittee.

The event was also attended by Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; Politburo member, standing member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Luong Cuong; Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the committee’s inspection commission Tran Cam Tu; and others.

They discussed a draft report on the review of the 13th Party Central Committee’s personnel and orientations for the 14th Party Central Committee’s personnel work, a draft proposal to the Politburo on the review of the personnel work of the 13th Party Central Committee and the building of the orientations for that of the 14th Party Central Committee, and a draft proposal to the Politburo on the orientations for the personnel work of the 14th Party Central Committee.

Lam stressed the significance and role of the personnel work, and personnel preparation for the 14th National Party Congress, adding they must inherit the ideology, as well as major and specific orientations of late Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong.

The personnel work must be carried out in an urgent and prudent manner, ensuring solidarity and unity in the Party, and the maintenance of the Party’s leadership and ruling role, he said, highlighting members of the Party Central Committee must have adequate capacity and prestige among the people and within the Party.

Meanwhile, the personnel preparation must assure the direct, comprehensive, regular, close, and democratic leadership of the Party Central Committee, Politburo, Secretariat, and Party Committees and Organisations, as well as put the interests of the Party, nation, and people first and foremost.

He asked members of the subcommittee to direct the work and gave opinions on its important tasks./.
