Senior Party official receives newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member and Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Secretariat Luong Cuong received newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei in Hanoi on October 8.

At the reception, Cuong congratulated China on its 75th National Day (October 1) and the achievements that the Chinese people have made over the past 75 years under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

Cuong congratulated He on being appointed as Ambassador to Vietnam, and expressed his belief that, the diplomat, with his rich experience, would make significant and effective contributions to further strengthening the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries.

The Vietnamese official said he is delighted to see positive and comprehensive development steps in the relationship between the two countries in recent times, and affirmed that developing relations with China is a top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

He suggested the two sides continue to coordinate in the coming time to promote regular high-level exchanges, effectively implement agreements reached by senior leaders of the two Parties and countries, and deepen practical cooperation in all fields, especially in economy, trade, and investment. He also emphasised the need to enhance strategic connectivity between the two countries, starting with the construction of railway routes in northern Vietnam to connect with China.

The Vietnamese official said the two sides should also implement practical measures during the Vietnam-China humanities exchange year 2025 to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties, thereby strengthening the social foundation of the bilateral relations.

Cuong urged both sides to strictly implement the high-level common perceptions, well manage and better resolve differences through peaceful measures in accordance with international law.

For his part, He thanked Cuong for important directions to further promote the China - Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the building of a China - Vietnam community with a shared future which carries strategic significance, benefiting people of both countries.

He reaffirmed that the Party, State, and people of China attach great importance to the relationship with Vietnam, considering the country a priority in China’s neighbourhood diplomacy.

The ambassador vowed to make efforts and closely coordinate with relevant agencies and localities of Vietnam to effectively implement the important common perceptions reached by the senior leaders of the two Parties and countries.

He also expressed his willingness to serve as a friendship bridge to facilitate high-level exchanges and promote practical cooperation in various fields, contributing to the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam and bringing many tangible benefits to the people of both countries./.
