Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has expressed his confidencethat the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement is likely to becompleted by early next year.
“There are some remainingcomplicated issues; however, it is the last 100 metres. Thus, we have tomake a push,” the PM was quoted by Singaporean newspaper as saying at aceremony to celebrate Singapore property giant CapitaLand’s 20thanniversary on November 9.
Lee Hsien Loong said outstanding TPPissues are mostly domestic factors in each member country, adding thatif each nation can persuade its branches to accept greater foreigncompetition, they can enter other countries’ market and consumers willalso benefit.
The Singaporean PM and leaders from 11 othercountries are expected to attend a TPP negotiation session in Beijing onNovember 10 morning.-VNA
