Vaccines are stored at a warehouse (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of new variants, Vietnam will continuestepping up vaccine diplomacy in the near future to meet vaccination demand in the country next year, said Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang.
During the ministry’s regular press conference held virtually onDecember 9, Hang said thanks to concerted efforts in vaccine diplomacy and the hard work of the entire political system, including high-ranking leaders,Vietnam has so far received over 150 million vaccine doses, thus meetingvaccination demand at home.
She added that Vietnam is now among countries with highvaccination rate, which has considerably reduced negative impacts of the pandemic,thus laying a solid foundation for the country to enter a period ofsafely, flexibly adapting to and effectively controlling COVID-19 and restoringeconomic development.
According to her, vaccine diplomacy work is meant to accesspotential sources of vaccines for children, support the production of COVID-19 vaccinesand medicines at home, and continue pooling international resources for medicalequipment and attract investment in public health care, contributing toimproving health infrastructure quality in Vietnam./.
