State leader praises Front for Liberation of South

State President Nguyen Minh Triet deliveredthis remark at a get-together of almost 200 delegates who are formermembers of the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam(NFLSV) and agencies of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of theRepublic of South Vietnam (PRGRSV), which was held in Ho Chi Minh Cityon Dec. 19.

The president also expressed gratitudeto fallen combatants, war invalids and people from all walks of life,who had sacrificed for the Fatherland’s independence and freedom.

President Triet stressed that the NFLSV, PRGRSV and the alliance ofpro-nation, democracy and peace forces played an extremely importantrole and contributed greatly to the struggle for the liberation of theSouth.

NFLSV was the voice and the flag appealingpeople from all walks of life, all social classes and the southerners’strength to join in the resistance war against the US aggressors toregain national independence, he said.

In thefamiliar atmosphere, participants were deeply moved with memories andstories of historical witnesses, including Nguyen Thi Binh, who onceheld the positions of Vice State President, member of the NFLSV CentralCommittee and Foreign Minister of the PRGRSV; Lieut. Gen. Nguyen ThoiBung, former Deputy of National Defence; Le Hieu Dang, former DeputySecretary General of the alliance of pro-nation, democracy and peaceforces; and Buddhist nun Thich Nu Ngoat Lien.

Thefunction was co-hosted by the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) CentralCommittee and the VFF HCM City Chapter and aimed to celebrate the 50 thfounding anniversary of NFLSV, which falls on Dec. 20./.
