Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Health agencies of Thailand are conducting a study on the effectiveness and safety of using a herbal medicine to cure cancer.

Director General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Kiattiphum Wongrachit said more than 5,000 people travel to Prachin Buri province at the beginning of each month to receive free herbal capsules from Saengchai Haetrakul. Several patients have claimed that the herbal capsules are effective against cancer.

The Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, the Department of Medical Services, the Department of Medical Sciences, the Prachin Buri Provincial Public Health Office, the National Cancer Institute, and Mr. Saengchai will jointly study to determine whether the herbal capsules are safe and effective against cancer. The study will be completed in March 2018.

If the herbal medicine is proven effective, meets the safety standards and has no harmful side effects, it will be further developed to become another alternative for cancer treatment.-VNA
