The rate of malnourished children under five years old in four mountainous communes in the northern province of Thai Nguyen in 2015 reduced by 3-5 percent from 24 percent in 2012.

The announcement was made during a meeting on June 23 to review a programme funded by the Aide et Action (AEA) organisation on nutrition and parenting education in Thai Nguyen.

The programme was carried out from 2012 to 2015 in four pre-schools in Phu Tien, Trung Hoi, Bao Cuong and Phuc Chu communes of Dinh Hoa district.

After four years, the programme contributed to developing positive behaviours and attitudes of parents in childcare and education as well as raising community awareness of preventing malnutrition in children.

At the meeting, participants suggested expanding the programme to 20 pre-schools in the district.-VNA
