Thailand opens first department store in Hanoi

Thailand’s leading retailer Central Group has officially set foot in Vietnam with the launch of a Robinson department store in the capital, aiming to turn it into a preferred retail outlet for young consumers.

The store occupies 10,000 sq.m of space on B1 floor of RoyalCity, a modern megamall project containing over 200,000 sq.m and morethan 5,000 residential units.

It is divided into nine areasdisplaying apparel for children, men and women, sportswear, cosmetics,footwear, a variety of backpacks and handbags, and household appliances.

Alan Thomsom, President of the Robinson Department StorePublic company, who is overseeing its operations, said it is the firsttime the store has moved outside its home country.

Throughout this April, shoppers will have chances to enjoy discounts ofup to 50 percent and receive promotional gifts. They can also apply formembership cards.-VNA

Lam Dong steps up oversight to curb IUU fishing

As of early January 2026, the province had 8,210 registered fishing vessels, with more than 90% holding valid fishing licences, according to the department. A total of 8,115 vessels, or 98.76%, have been updated in the National Population Database, while 1,773 out of 1,941 vessels measuring 15 metres or longer have been granted food safety certificates, accounting for 91.34%.
