The new Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN Ambassador Chombhala Chareonying, presented his Letter of Credentials to Secretary-General of ASEAN Le Luong Minh at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta on February 10.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Chombhala reiterated that ASEAN has always been a cornerstone of Thailand’s foreign policy.

He also emphasized the important role of the ASEAN Secretariat in the process of building the ASEAN Community and reassured Thailand’s full support for the strengthening of the ASEAN Secretariat.

Secretary General Le Luong Minh congratulated Ambassador Chombhala on the assumption of his new duty, and looked forward to working closely with the new ambassador under the framework of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR).

He said the Ambassador, with vast experience in ASEAN Activities, will contribute significantly to the work of the CPR.

Established in 1967, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) comprises ten members, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.-VNA
