Bangkok (VNA) - The Thai Ministry of Industry has asked manufacturers in five industries, including automobile manufacturing, electronics, electrical appliances, steel and garment, to take more serious efforts to adapt to projected US trade policies, the influx of low-cost imports into the Thai market, and disruptive technology.
Director-General of the Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) Passakorn Chairat said the OIE suggested entrepreneurs in these sectors closely monitor the impact of the above factors that can intensify, affecting their businesses this year.
The OIE warned that a stronger US tariff policy is expected once Donald Trump is sworn in as President of the US, which could affect Thai manufacturers.
Trump said he will impose tariffs of 10-20% on all imported products, with tariffs of 60-100% on goods imported from China, according to media reports./.
