Thu Thiem bridge opens to traffic

The 1.25km bridge has six lanes for vehicles, linking district 2 with Binh Thanh district.

Work on the bridge, built at over 1.47 trillion VND, started in April 2005. Phase I of the project ended two years ago.

The project, including the Thu Thiem four-lane tunnel, which is 460mlong and 19m wide, has helped facilitate travelling in Binh Thanhdistrict.

Also the same day, work started on three main roads with a total length of nearly 10km in the Thu Thiem new urban centre.

The project including 10 new bridges has a total investment of 6.73 trillion VND (363 million USD)./.
