Top Lao legislator lauds construction progress of NA House

Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly (NA) Pany Yathotou has praised the construction progress of the Lao National Assembly House, a gift the Vietnamese Party, State and people presented to their Lao counterparts, and pledged support for the project so that it is carried out smoothly.

- Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly (NA) PanyYathotou has praised the construction progress of the Lao National AssemblyHouse, a gift the Vietnamese Party, State and people presented to their Laocounterparts, and pledged support for the project so that it is carried out smoothly.

At a reception in Vientiane on January 26 for a delegation from the Vietnamese Ministryof Construction, led by Minister Pham Hong Ha, she expressed her belief that withhighly skilled experts and workers, Vietnam will complete the project with goodquality and the building will become a symbol of friendship and comprehensivecooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

For his part, Ha informed the Lao leader of his earlier working session withthe management board for the Lao National Assembly (NA) House construction projecton January 25, in which an agreement on coordination mechanism and scope ofwork between the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction and the management boardwas inked.

Both sides committed to ensuring equality, construction techniques, aestheticappearance and safety of the building as well as completing the project by theend of 2020, he noted.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction will do its best with the highestpolitical determination together with Laos to build the NA House imbued withthe Lao culture and make it a vivid illustration for bilateral specialrelations, he said.

Theminister also asked for support from the Lao authorities, especially the NAChairwoman, to accomplish the construction on schedule.

Work on the 100-million-USD project began in Thatluang village in Vientiane’sSaysettha district on November 2017.-VNA

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved

A major focus will be preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The NASC will coordinate with the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies and organisations to continue implementing the election plan, organise oversight of the electoral process, and carry out its duties and powers as prescribed.
