Top legislator attends meeting reviewing organisation of APF events

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) events left a strong impression on international delegates and served as a major highlight of the APF’s activities in 2025.

Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on April 15 attended a meeting to review the organisation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) Executive Committee’s meeting and the Francophone Parliamentary Forum on sustainable agriculture, food security, and climate change adaptation.

NA Chairman Man and Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai presented certificates of merit from the NA Standing Committee to collectives and individuals with outstanding performance in the organisation work.

NA General Secretary and Chairman of the NA Office Le Quang Tung, and Vice Chairman of the office Vu Minh Tuan presented certificates of merit from the chairperson of the NA Office to collectives and individuals with great contributions to this work, including the Vietnam News Agency.

NA Vice Chairman Hai, head of the organising committee, said that the success in terms of the agenda, participants, and event scale had demonstrated the active and responsible role of the Vietnamese NA in the APF in particular and at inter-parliamentary forums in general.

The events, held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from January 21 to 24, also represented a concrete step forward in implementing Directive No. 25-CT/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on enhancing and elevating multilateral diplomacy by 2030, as well as in following the legislature's foreign affairs orientation for the 15th tenure and towards 2030. Additionally, they highlighted the pioneering and leading role of the Vietnamese legislative body within the Francophone parliamentary framework in the Asia-Pacific region, while underscoring the country’s position and role on the international stage.

The APF events left a strong impression on international delegates and served as a major highlight of the APF’s activities in 2025. The Vietnamese NA made thorough and comprehensive preparations for the events, covering all aspects from content, information, communications, security, and logistics to health care and protocol, with detailed plans in place, heard the review meeting.

The APF Executive Committee Meeting and the Francophone Parliamentary Forum attracted the participation of APF Executive Committee members, Francophone parliamentarians from all continents, high-level leaders of the Vietnamese NA, diplomats, as well as representatives from several development partners and international organisations.

Bilateral meetings on the sidelines between leaders of the Vietnamese NA and participating delegations yielded practical outcomes, helping to enhance the host country's role and position while also promoting bilateral relations, particularly with key and strategic partners./.
