Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- State President Luong Cuong held talks in Hanoi on April 15 with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping, who is on a state visit to Vietnam.

Cuong noted the special significance of the visit by Xi and the Chinese high-ranking delegation, which coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties (January 18, 1950 - 2025) and the Year of Vietnam – China Humanistic Exchange. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an official welcome ceremony at the Presidential Palace on April 15 afternoon for Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed Ali and his spouse who are on an official visit to Vietnam where he will also attend the 4th Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G) Summit from April 14-17.

This is the first visit to Vietnam by a senior Ethiopian leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1976, and also the first high-level delegation exchange between the two countries in seven years. Read full story

- Deputy Minister of Finance Le Tan Can led a Vietnamese Government delegation to pay a working visit to Cuba from April 11 to 14, aiming to further strengthen the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, especially in terms of economics, trade and investment.

During working sessions with representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Investment, and Finance and Prices, and the Central Bank of Cuba, the Vietnamese delegation expressed delight at the fruitful development of bilateral relations across channels and areas in recent times, affirming that the Party, State and people of Vietnam attach special importance to the special relations with the Latin American nation. - Vietnam and China have signed seven important cooperation documents in the railway and road sectors, including two intergovernmental treaties, two official development assistance (ODA) agreements between the two governments, and three ministerial-level accords.

The signing took place during General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping’s state visit to Vietnam from April 14–15. Top leader hosts Ethiopian Prime Minister

Vietnam always values its friendship and cooperation with African countries, including Ethiopia. Both sides should study and identify several priority areas for cooperation in the coming period, based on their respective potential and needs, particularly in agriculture, trade, investment, science and technology, and people-to-people and business-to-business connectivity.

Vietnam, China strengthen cooperation in border management

Vietnamese and Chinese localities pledged to facilitate trade and promote cross-border economic development. Joint patrols and enhanced surveillance will be intensified in areas prone to criminal activity. They agreed to proactively coordinate the verification, repatriation, and reception of individuals involved in illegal border crossings.

Since the beginning of this year, Vietnam has emerged as a focal point of global attention, with its bold domestic reforms such as the streamlining of the state apparatus, the restructuring of administrative units, and the adoption of creative, flexible solutions in economic, financial, and foreign investment matters, particularly in response to new US tariff policies, said Party chief To Lam.
