Top Vietnamese leader leaves Hanoi for visits to Laos, Cambodia

Hanoi (VNA) - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC)and President Nguyen Phu Trong, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam leftHanoi on February 24 morning for an official friendly visit to Laos and a Statevisit to Cambodia.

The visit to Laos fromFebruary 24-25 is made at the invitation of General Secretary of the LaoPeople’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President Bounnhang Vorachith.

Meanwhile,the trip to Cambodia from February 25-26 comes at the invitation of CambodianKing Norodom Sihamoni.

TheVietnamese leader is accompanied by Tong Thi Phong, Politburo member and PermanentVice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member,Secretary of the CPVCC and head of the CPVCC’s Commission for MassMobilisation; Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister andForeign Minister, and many other senior officials.

Vietnam-Laosrelations were founded by late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and his Laocounterpart Kaysone Phomvihane, and have been nurtured by generations ofleaders and the people of the two countries over the past seven decades,blossoming into a valuable treasure of the two nations.

Thetraditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation havebeen unceasingly cemented.

Sincethe establishment of diplomatic ties on June 24, 1967, Vietnam and Cambodiahave maintained mutual high-ranking visits, as well as delegation exchangesbetween their ministries, sectors and localities.-VNA
