The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has launched its marketingcampaigns to Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Russia, while atthe same time boosting the growth of the domestic tourism market, theVietnam Economic News reported.
Minister of Culture, Sports andTourism Hoang Tuan Anh said that to lure more foreign tourists, thetourism sector needs to boost tourism promotion to welcome fam-trip andpress-trip delegations from major markets such as the RoK, Japan, Russiaand Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.
Minister Hoang Tuan Anh also said special road-shows must be organisedto design specific tourism products to the Japanese and RoK markets.
OnJuly 16, VietJet Air inaugurated a flight route from Da Nang toIncheon, RoK. On the same day, Vietnam Airlines officially inaugurated anew international flight route to Tokyo, Japan (Da Nang-Narita).This is Vietnam Airlines’ first flight route between Da Nang andTokyo and the third international flight route from Da Nang, afterthe one leading to Siem Reap, Cambodia and Seoul, RoK. These newflight routes will contribute to promoting tourism between Japan, theRoK and Vietnam’s central region.
Vietnam expects towelcome 400,000 Russian tourists this year. Vietnam NationalAdministration of Tourism General Director Nguyen Van Tuan said: “Vietnam considers Russia as a major source market and will providespecial packages to attract tourists from this market. The long-standingcooperative relationship between Vietnam and Russia offersfavorable conditions for Vietnam to attract Russian visitors.”
Inthe framework of Vietnamese Culture Days in Russia 2014, in early July,the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism introduced Vietnamesetourism products in Moscow , St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl.
ValeryA. Korovkin, Director of the International Cooperation Department ofthe Federal Agency for Tourism under the Russian Ministry of Culture,said that Vietnam was a friendly country to Russian people and hopedthe cooperation between tourism agencies of the two sides would betightened.
Along with popularizing the image of Vietnam’stourism in foreign countries, stimulating domestic travel is animportant strategy to maintain the continuous growth of the tourismsector, promoting its effective contribution to the Vietnamese economy.The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism recently launched aspecific campaign aimed at encouraging Vietnamese people to travelaround Vietnam.
According to Nguyen Van Tuan, the number ofdomestic tourists taking domestic tours strongly increased in recenttimes, from one million in 1990 to 35 million in 2013. Increases in thenumber of tourists have promoted the growth of the tourism sector andits contribution to the national economy.
The campaign launchedto encourage Vietnamese people to travel around Vietnam will promotetours to coastal areas, islands and mountainous areas which have thepotential for tourism development. It will also encourage overseasVietnamese to visit their homeland.
In the last six months of2014, the tourism sector will continue to implement its tasks in theframework of the National Action Plan on Tourism and the NationalTourism Promotion Programme.
It will organise activitieswhich are part of the National Tourism Year 2014 in the Central Highlandprovince of Lam Dong and prepare for the National Tourism Year2015 in Thanh Hoa.
In addition, it will complete the preparationof tourism development plans such as the master plan for tourismdevelopment in the Southeast Asian region and coastal areas of theSouth-central region towards 2020 with a vision to 2030, the master planfor development of national tourist sites such as Nui Ba Den in TayNinh Province and Son Tra in Da Nang .-VNA
