Hanoi (VNA) –The Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh has to date disbursed more than 145billion VND (6.32 million USD) for pandemic-hit residents, announced theprovincial People’s Committee.
There were over150,300 beneficiaries, including people who contributed to the country’srevolutionary cause, the poor and laid-off workers without labour contracts.
The move aimed to helplocal people and businesses resume production and overcome the negative impactof COVID-19, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Van Han has said.
More measures tooffset consequences of the pandemic will be rolled out in the coming time, headded.
The province alsoprovided assistance to laid-off workers who are not eligible for unemploymentallowance, and small-scale firms.
The provincial taxoffice extended deadlines for tax payments worth over 5.3 billion VND for about30 local businesses. Meanwhile, financial institutions rescheduled debt settlementand exempted interests for 233 customers with total outstanding loans of38.48 billion VND./.
Tra Vinh expands forest coverage
The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Tra Vinh plans to grow new forests from now to 2025, increasing the province’s total forest area to 10,000ha and reaching a forest coverage rate of 4.2 percent.
