Two Indonesian oil tankers stranded in Persian Gulf

PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) currently has four vessels operating in the Middle East region. Of these, two vessels – Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro – remain in the gulf. The other two have been relocated to relatively safer positions.

Jakarta (VNA) – PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) stated that two of its tankers remain in the Persian Gulf amid the Israel-Iran conflict.

The company said that it continues to monitor conditions on the ground to ensure the safety of the crew and the continuity of energy distribution operations.

According to PIS Acting Corporate Secretary Vega Pita, the company currently has four vessels operating in the Middle East region. Of these, two vessels – Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro – remain in the gulf. The other two have been relocated to relatively safer positions. Specifically, PIS Rinjani is anchored at Khor Fakkan Port in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), while PIS Paragon is discharging cargo in Oman.

She said the fleet team is in close communication with the management to coordinate and ensure the safety of the crew and vessels.

Vega added the Gamsunoro is currently loading in Khor al-Zubair, Iraq, meanwhile, the Pertamina Pride has completed loading in Ras Tanura of Saudi Arabia, but remains in the gulf. The company’s leadership is prioritising efforts to quickly remove the two vessels from the risk area, while maintaining round-the-clock monitoring of the situation.

In addition to focusing on its fleet, PIS is also ensuring the safety of its employees at its Middle East branch office. The company has a PIS Middle East entity based in Dubai with approximately 30 employees and their families.

Vega stated that all workers are safe and are following the instructions of the Indonesian representative there, including an appeal to increase vigilance and report any emergencies.

PIS affirmed that it has coordinated intensively with ship management teams and local maritime authorities to strengthen anticipatory measures. Communication is also ongoing with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian representatives in Abu Dhabi and Dubai./.
