Typhoon forecast to hit northeastern Vietnam on July 19
Storm Rammasun, the second to appear in the East Sea this year, is

At an urgent meeting in Hanoi on July 16, Cuong said the fierce storm is moving towards the Tonkin Gulf and may roll in these waters in the evening of July 18.
The typhoon will bring torrential rains in the northern and northern central regions with rainfalls between 200 – 300 mm, mainly on July 19 and 20, he noted.
The office of the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control said as of 16:00 on July 16, border guard forces of coastal localities from Quang Ninh to Ba Ria – Vung Tau provinces had informed 57,171 ships with 200,895 people working in the East Sea of the storm and instructed them to seek shelter.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, who is also head of the committee, ordered localities bordering Tonkin Gulf to promptly urge all vessels to come ashore and devise measures ensuring safety for aquaculture areas.
He stressed the need to call on 45 ships which are operating in the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago to swiftly take shelter.
