Uzbekistan’s honorary consulate office opens in Hanoi

The event took place before representatives from the Ministry ofForeign Economic Relations of Uzbekistan, and the Ministries of ForeignAffairs and Industry and Trade of Vietnam.

Le Van Nghia, who was selected by the two governments as honoraryconsul as of February 2009, said that the office will coordinate withrelevant agencies to organise cultural exchanges, and conferences andfairs on tourism and agriculture in Uzbekistan’s capital city ofTashkent as well as work with Vietnamese agencies and sectors onsending students and officials to Uzbekistan for study.

Vietnam and Uzbekistan established diplomatic ties on January 17,1992. The two countries set up an inter-governmental committee oneconomic, commercial, scientific and technological cooperation in 1996.

At present, there is demand from the Uzbekistani market for tropicalfarm produce like tea, coffee and rubber, foodstuffs, handicrafts andelectronics from Vietnam . It is able to supply Vietnam with cotton,nonferrous metals, fertilizer and machines.

Two-way trade between the two countries reached 4.8 million USD in 2006, 6.6 million USD in 2007 and 8.3 million USD in 2008.

In 2008, Vietnam earned almost 2.5 million USD from Uzbekistan and imported goods worth 5.8 million USD./.

Vietnam Airlines’ Europe flights unaffected by Middle East airspace closures

Vietnam Airlines’ flights between Vietnam and Europe continue to operate normally despite widespread airspace closures across parts of the Middle East. Other Vietnamese carriers, including Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines and Sun PhuQuoc Airways, currently do not serve routes to Europe and have no flight paths crossing the airspace of Israel or Iran.

Embassy issues urgent recommendations to Vietnamese in Israel

Human capital central to Vietnam’s international financial centre drive

Training programmes for the IFC workforce should be upgraded and expanded into priority areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, financial technology, energy and semiconductors, with the longer-term goal of developing a high-quality finance and STEM training hub in Vietnam aligned with German standards, said Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, who also serves as Chairman of the Executive Board of the Vietnam International Financial Centre.

PM orders enhanced management, effective use of public assets

PM Pham Minh Chinh urged ministries and ministry-level and Government agencies to promptly complete the handling and put into use surplus offices and land assets arising from apparatus reorganisation, ensuring they are not left idle or degraded. Surplus properties must be swiftly transferred to local authorities for management or otherwise handled in accordance with the law.

Da Nang: foreigner caught operating drone illegally

At about 1pm on February 26, a patrol unit from the An Hai ward Military Command spotted a man operating a drone near Ong Temple at the junction of Vo Van Kiet and Vo Nguyen Giap streets. The operator had not secured approval from relevant authorities.

Ministry requests urgent measures to counter UAVs threatening aviation safety

The ministry requested the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security and provincial and municipal steering committees for counter-terrorism to strengthen the management, inspection and supervision of UAVs and other aerial devices, ensuring strict compliance with Decree No. 288/2025/ND-CP and relevant legal regulations.
