Hanoi (VNA) – Low-cost carrier Vietjet Air announced it cancelled flights to and from Taiwan (China) on July 7, as super typhoon Nepartak bore down on the island territory.

The cancelled flights are VJ858/859, VJ842/843 and VJ840/841, which are scheduled to travel between Ho Chi Minh City and Taipei and Tainan cities.

Affected passengers will be rescheduled for other flights or get refunds.

The airline is also keeping track of flights bound for the Republic of Korea in line with the typhoon’s path to deliver prompt announcements if there is any change to related flight schedules.

July and August are a common period for storms every year, which cost the aviation sector dear, said a Vietjet Air representative, adding that passenger safety needs to be put first.-VNA
