Vietnam attends ASEAN Forum on Social Entrepreneurship

A Vietnamese delegation attended the ASEAN Forum on Social Entrepreneurship in Singapore on October 30 to learn from Singapore’s social enterprise model and from other ASEAN member states.

A Vietnamese delegation attended the ASEAN Forum on SocialEntrepreneurship in Singapore on October 30 to learn from Singapore’ssocial enterprise model and from other ASEAN member states.

Over 80 policy makers and representatives of non-governmentalorganisations from the 10 ASEAN member states discussed the role ofsocial entrepreneurship and talked about good practices and a jointvision for the development of social enterprises.

At the event, the Vietnamese head of delegation delivered a speech onthe current state of social entrepreneurship in Vietnam, and gave anoverview of the proposals for the State management system to organisesocial enterprises and help them grow further.

Singaporean Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Singaffirmed the increasing recognition of social entrepreneurship as apotential solution to societal needs, along with the efforts undertakenby the Government, the private sector and charitable organisations.

The forum provided a chance for the ASEAN countries to share theiropinions on how to encourage social enterprises to support society’svulnerable and disadvantaged groups.-VNA
