Lao Cai (VNA) – The border guard command in the northwestern province of Lao Cai has coordinated with the Honghe border management unit, the Hekou entry-exit inspection station in China’s Yunnan province, to conduct joint law enforcement patrols along the shared border.

The activity aimed to detect and prevent crimes such as illegal border crossings, smuggling, human trafficking, and other violations in the Lao Cai – Yunnan border area.

On August 25 and 26, the sides established a joint patrol command, with each forming nine land patrol teams and assigning two liaison groups for the mission along the border section from Marker No. 87 to Marker No. 167.

Before the patrol, the two commands met at the demarcation line at the Lao Cai international border gate to exchange information on the security situation, agree on coordinated responses to potential incidents, and arrange liaison officers to join the other side’s patrol formations.

During the joint work, both forces worked under the contents of their bilateral cooperation agreement, ensuring respect for each other’s territorial sovereignty. In addition, they discussed recent violations of border regulations, particularly illegal border crossings, trade fraud, and drug trafficking.

As part of the activity, the two sides distributed leaflets to 1,000 border residents to raise awareness of legal regulations and encourage strict compliance with border rules, preventing support for unlawful activities./.
