Vietnam has reported 10 newly-confirmed cases of the A/H1N1 flu, bringing to 309 the total number of infections in the Southeast Asian nation as of 5:00 pm on July 14.

No deaths have been reported so far, said the Ministry of Health.

The ministry added that 258 among the infected patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital while 51 others have been isolated and are undergoing treatment.

The Ministry of Health has kept close watch on the latest developments in the flu’s progression and taken prompt measures against a possible outbreak into a pandemic.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, as of July 12, the epidemic has stricken 135 countries and territories, with 114,569 confirmed cases, 572 of them fatal.

In Southeast Asia, 3,475 cases of the disease have now been recorded in Thailand, 1,709 in the Philippines, 1,217 in Singapore, and 255 in Brunei./.
