Vietnam, Czech bolster defence cooperation

Senior military officers of Vietnam and the Czech Republic had talks in Hanoi on August 15, agreeing to focus collaboration on such areas as personnel training, defence industry, scientific research, military technology, and military equipment maintenance.

The talks washeld between Deputy Minister of Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Do Ba Ty,Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and Gen. PetrPavel, Chief of the General Staff of Armed Forces of the Czech Republic.

Basingon unanimous contents, relevant agencies of the two defence ministrieswill soon build up and sign an action plan to effectively realise theirmemorandum of understanding on bilateral defence cooperation.

Atthe talks, both sides also shared their experience in building andmodernising their armed forces and exchanged views on global issues aswell as matters of mutual concern.

The Czech delegation’s visitto Vietnam, which will last until August 17, aims to strengthenbilateral defence connection, thus consolidating the friendship betweenthe two armies and peoples.-VNA
