Vietnam decried the US’ Vietnam Human Rights Act on March 8, saying it provides completely inaccurate and biased information about the country’s execution of human rights.

Luong Thanh Nghi, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, made the statement in response to reporters’ queries on Vietnam ’s reaction to the Human Rights Act, which has been passed by the US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs.

“Over past years, Vietnam has gained achievements in securing human rights in civil, political, economic, cultural and social affairs, which have been recognised by the international community,” said Nghi.

Any differences in human rights issues should be discussed frankly in the spirit of constructiveness and mutual respect to promote mutual understanding and help strengthen relations among nations, said the spokesperson.

In that spirit, Vietnam has held dialogues on human rights issues with the US , he added.-VNA
