Vietnam earns four more medals on 2018 Asian Para Games’ fifth day

Jakarta (VNA) – Vietnamese athletes secured four more medals on October 11,the fifth day of the ongoing 2018 Asian Para Games in Indonesia.

NguyenKhanh Minh won a silver medal in the men’s 400m, disability category of T12 with a time of 50:94, while NguyenNgoc Hiep earned a bronze in the same event for athletes with disabilitycategory of T11 within 59:69.

In athletics, Tran Van Nguyen also brought homea bronze medal in the men’s javelin throw F40 with a throw of 32.79m.

Meanwhile, swimmer Vo Thanh Tung pocketed asilver at the men’s 50m freestyle S5 event, clocking 34:40.

On the same day, badminton player Trinh AnhTuan defeated his Japanese rival Daisuke Fujihara 2-1.

As of 10pm on October 11, Vietnam had won atotal 27 medals, including six gold, six silver and 15 bronze medals, standingat 11th place in the medal table.

China topped the overall rankings with 137 golds,followed by the Republic of Korea with 43 gold medals.

The Asian Para Games, which follows the Asian Gamesevery four years, attracts athletes from 45 countries and territories in Asiathis year.

The Vietnamese team comprises 75 members, including52 athletes who will compete in seven of 18 sports, namely swimming, track andfield, weightlifting, chess, badminton, table tennis and judo.

At the previous Asian Para Games in 2014, thecountry bagged nine gold, seven silver, and 13 bronze medals, finishing 10th inthe overall rankings.–VNA
