The affirmationwas made on November 27 in a meeting between Dutch Prime Minister MarkRutte and Vietnam ’s Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, who isvisiting Holland from November 26-30.

Duringthe meeting, Rutte applauded the socio-economic development of Vietnam, especially in reducing poverty and intensifying internationalintegration, as well as its efforts to weather the global financial andeconomic recession.

He highly valued Vietnam’srole in the region and the world, particularly in ASEAN. He expressedhis belief that the country, as a coordinator between ASEAN and the EU,will contribute significantly to strengthening links between ASEAN andthe EU, as well as between the EU and Vietnam in particular.

Holland will accelerate the ratification of the signed partnershipand cooperation agreement (PCA) between Vietnam and the EU, andfoster the development of a Vietnam-EU free trade agreement (FTA).

For his part, Hai thanked the Dutch Government for its development aidto Vietnam over the past years, expressing his hope that Hollandwill continue aiding the country in infrastructure development andeducation.

He took the occasion to convey PrimeMinister Nguyen Tan Dung’s invitation for Rutte to visit Vietnam ,which Rutte accepted with pleasure.

Expressing theirdelight at their relationship’s positive development in all fields, thetwo sides agreed to strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels andcoordinate closely to celebrate the 40 th anniversary of diplomaticties between the two countries in 2013.

They also agreed to create favourable conditions for businesses from both countries to invest in each other’s market.

Whilst in Holland, Hai will meet the Minister of Foreign Trade andDevelopment Cooperation, the Minister of Infrastructure and theEnvironment, and the Mayors of Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

He will co-chair the second meeting of the Vietnam-Hollandinter-government committee in response to climate change and watermanagement, attend a CEOs round table meeting, visit several prominentbusinesses and make fact-finding tours to economic establishments.-VNA

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
