Hanoi (VNA) – The ongoing visit toVietnam by a delegation of the India-Vietnam Solidarity Committee of WestBengal state contributes to consolidating the friendship, solidarity andpeople-to people diplomacy between Vietnam and India.

Vice President-cum-Secretary General of theVietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong made thestatement during his reception for the delegation led by the committee’s presidentGeetesh Sharma in Hanoi on June 12.

The visit takes place from June 10-22 as part ofactivities to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic ties andthe 10th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership between thetwo nations.

Phong said the visit presents an opportunity forthe Vietnamese and Indian people, particularly young generations, nurture thetraditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and India. 

Geetesh Sharma, who has been visiting Vietnamfor 26 times since the 1980s, described the Vietnam visit as a trip back to hishome, saying that this visit will help him complete a book on Vietnam.

He said Vietnam holds huge potential to lureIndian tourists, suggesting that Vietnam should promote its unique tourismproducts such as Indian-styled historical relic sites in the centralregion.-VNA
