Vietnam, Indonesia aim for deeper strategic partnership

Jakarta (VNA) – General Secretary ofthe Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong met withSpeaker of Indonesia’s Regional Representative Council Oesman Sapta Odang inJakarta on August 22.

The two sides agreed that Vietnam and Indonesiahave long-standing relations and both are members of the Association ofSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which allow the two countries to promote theirrelations.

The deepening of the bilateral strategicpartnership not only satisfies the benefits of their people but alsocontributes to building an ASEAN of solidarity, unity and strength, thuspromoting peace, stability and development in the region and beyond, they said.

They added that the development of cooperationbetween their State power agencies at central and local levels as well asbetween groups of parliamentarians will help increase the operationalefficiency of Vietnam’s National Assembly and Indonesia’s legislative bodies.

This will also contribute to increasingpolitical trust and reinforcing the bilateral friendship and cooperation, theysaid.

Party leader Trong congratulated Indonesia on its achievements gained in recentyears and highly valued the country’s growing position and prestige in theglobe.

The Indonesian Speaker pledged to make activecontributions to enhancing the two nations’ multidimensional cooperative ties,including the experience exchanges in monitoring the government’s activities andboosting cooperation among localities such as Hanoi and Jakarta.-VNA
