Vietnam and Iran signed agreements to mutually invest in fisheries and general trade at the sixth meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic and Commercial Cooperation.

Signatories to the documents were the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and Iranian Minister of Commerce Mehdi Ghazanfari.

Under the minutes of the meeting in Hanoi on Dec. 23, both sides agreed to provide good access, information and conditions for businessmen and investors from both countries to promote cooperation in various sectors ranging from petroleum industry, transport, science and education to health care.

Both sides also reached consensus to assign their relevant agencies to complete procedures for the signing of the agreement to avoid double taxation in 2010.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Minister Phat, who is also President, said he hoped to double bilateral trade to 300 million USD by 2010.

The pledge made at the sixth meeting will help bring the two countries’ relations to a new height, he said./.
