Vietnam, Japan promote agriculture cooperation

Vietnam and Japan have agreed to promote bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture.

An agreement to this effect was reached at a meeting in Hanoi on May4 between Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phatand his Japanese counterpart, Yoshimasa Hyashi, who is on a workingvisit to Vietnam .

Under the agreement, the twosides will cooperate to increase agricultural production andproductivity and promote agricultural diversification.

They alsoagreed to boost rural development; enhance farmers’ capacity inorganising their production; and strengthen forest management andaquaculture development in a sustainable manner, and use sea resourceseffectively.

At their meeting, the two ministershighly valued bilateral cooperation over the past time, saying that thecooperation should be further strengthened in the coming time.-VNA
