Vietnam joins convention to promote occupational safety

Vietnam has officially joined the Convention on the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

Vietnam has officially joined the Convention on the PromotionalFramework for Occupational Safety and Health of the International LabourOrganisation (ILO).

The Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs announced the ratification in Hanoi on March 12.

Theministry has developed a plan to carry out the convention, which isexpected to ensure the best interests of employees and employers aremet.

While popularising the implementation of the convention toall agencies and employees and employers, the ministry will review legaldocuments relating to the occupational safety and health to ensure thatthey adapt to the convention.

It will also carry out national programmes on the issue for the 2010-15 period.

Vietnam has now joined 21 out of 189 ILO conventions.-VNA
